The Clock(work) Fae

I don't often post about my personal beliefs much, not indepth anymore, but thought this might be interesting for my metaphysical readers.

Had an interesting thing happen last night. My Witchling ring (a diamond band I bought when I hit the USA Today bestseller list for Witchling) was suddenly...gone. As in not on my finger.

I freaked, but since it had been there not long before that, knew it had to be in the house. Looked for TWO HOURS for it. Finally, in a fit of panic, I stood in the middle of the room and asked the Fae to help. Now, I've worked with the Fae for years, I'm pledged to a goddess who is, essentially, the Finnish goddess of the forest and Finnish Fae. I have a long history with them.

So, I promised them I’d buy them whatever they wanted me to buy them if they could help me find my ring by noon today. I walked out of the bedroom, into the living room and suddenly decided that yes, I WAS going to do my stretching routine (I’d been going to blow it off, I was so worried about my ring), and I reached down for my yoga mat. A green bag full of magazines was on it. I moved the bag and my ring fell off of it. This was less than FIVE minutes after I asked for help, and two hours after I'd been looking for it by myself!

I meditated and asked the house Fae what they wanted. They said fresh flowers regularly, and they needed a “wooden clock with chimes for the Clock Faerie”…I was like, whoa, I’ve never heard of the ‘clock faerie’….asked if a mantle clock on top of the entertainment center would do and they said yes, as long as it's made of wood and has chimes.

Then I asked if they’d tell me about the Clock Faerie and what I got was an image of an ancient wizened old man/sprite and I was told “He makes things run smoothly, but he needs a wooden clock with chimes to work his magic.”

So, this morning I made good on my promise (NEVER double-cross the Fae), and ordered a gorgeous wooden clock with chimes. Sam will bring home flowers tonight. Sam’s comment (he was the one who encouraged me to ask them for help) was: “Oh, he’s like a clockwork faerie—organization.” And yeah, I think that’s what they mean by clock faerie.
And who knows, maybe a version of the Clock Faerie will show up in my books somewhere!

Okay, later folks!

Yasmine,
I loved this story. I love hearing about other people's beliefs--especially if they live them.

My husband has been a professional clairvoyant and spiritual teacher for over 20 years now. He has some amazing stories about the fairies from when we visited Ireland.

You know I wish I would have thought of something like this when I lost my ring. My husband bought me a past, present, future ring that is pink stones instead of diamonds. I love pink so it was great. I went to put it on one day, and I couldn't find it. I looked all over the house, and I even went so far as to organize everything in our bedroom. That ring was no where to be found. Well six months down the road the hubby decides we are going to have Spaghetti for dinner, and he finds the long lost ring. I guess while cleaning the kitchen I put the ring on top of the Spaghetti jar, and the jar was just high enough that you couldn't see the top. Needeless to say I was very happy he found the ring. I don't put it on the top of the jar anymore.

That is a wonderful story and I am glad it had a happy outcome.

In my family when something goes missing in that certain mysterious way, we do something similar.

Bribing the Fae can be very helpful at times:)

I love that you bought yourself a special ring to commemorate Witchling making the USA Today bestseller list. What a great way to celebrate:)

Im very interested in the clockwork faerie. Its intereing to me that you would bring this up. My dad for years who was a dedicated believer in the fae believed that if you had a wooden clock with chines in your house things would be more orderly and organized, also peaceful. So It doesn't surprise me that they would want such a clock in tribute. I think its amazing.
