The Living Garden

Today (writing this Monday) is one of those days authors just wince at. Not a bad day, mind you, but I’m on deadline. Major deadline. And I have a conference this weekend. Well, it occurred to me that I should be getting Bone Magic page proofs soon and I wrote to my editor today to ask when they were due. Well, soon I get a return email saying, essentially, ack, they’d come in, somehow got overlooked, and they were on their way to me right now, due Friday if possible, though if I desperately needed it, the time frame could be extended a few days.

Well, here’s the thing: yes, I could use the extra time. This is hair-pulling territory. BUT…but…I’d rather save that “I need a little extra time” for a rougher situation, for some time when I am just totally treading water. So, like the good professional author that I am, I sucked it up and said, “I can do it.”

So yah, I’m swamped. And I know I’d better get this done now or I won’t get it done at all. So…let’s see…today I’m going to present something a friend recently let me know about for your perusal. When I first saw this, I was breathless, taken aback by the incredible talent and beauty here. And the brilliance? I want to meet the person who came up with the idea…I want to talk to them, to see where the flash of inspiration came from.

The Living Garden is a unique experience that brings magic and the mystical to life, and I so very much want to go see them. Seductive, bringing nature into our realm, bringing the divine into dance…I want them to release a DVD so I can have it—because this…this exemplifies how I feel about nature as deity, bout the gods being living, breathing entities we can reach out and touch when we wander among the forest, when we glide through the water, when we even open a book and hear the muse calling from within.

So tell me, what have you seen or read or heard that inspired you recently? That took your breath away? That left you thinking, “That is so beautiful … or powerful… or brilliant…”?

There is some very beautiful, breathtaking CGI architecture and landscaping that really takes my breath away. Some of those artists are so talented and beautiful!

Actually, Phyrra, I don't think it's CGI--this is all live performance.

Ah sorry, I thought you were asking what people had seen recently that had really inspired me, which is why I mentioned some CGI stuff.

Hey there, Phyrra!

Just wanted to let you know Yasmine went back, looked at your comment & realised she misunderstood your post. ;) And she agrees that the CGI stuff is pretty cool, too.

Yasmine,

Nature always tends to inspire me and Living Garden is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. What recently has inspired me is a train trip to Chicago. I traveled through many forests and the train tracks seem to be a "in-between" type place, much like the synapses in the brain and I believe that creativity lies in the in-between spaces.

This is soul touching. Thank you for this on a very tricky day.
You, my dear are an inspiration to many. Brilliant and awe inspiring. My daughter is allergic to wheat. Battling her weight and feeling yucky in general. I read her your blogs and she reads you on my face book. Your story gives her strength.
This past year your books brought you into our lives, but you as a person, have helped treading water be a little easier. Thank you
J

Sun, we're glad Yasmine's blog gave you a spark of inspiration, We hope it grows to a steady flame for you.
Sandra, we really liked your analogy to the train tracks; vivid and a bit whimsical. Thanks!
Jenni, Yasmine was really touched when she read your comment. She is so glad her writing and her own struggles and triumphs have added something to you and your daughter's lives. Thanks for sharing that back with us, here. :)
