As you all know by now, I’m
a bit outspoken about some of my beliefs, because they impact me on a personal
level. I was getting political on FB because I felt the issues really need to
be addressed and are basic human rights issues. BUT…lately there have been
several of my readers who’ve gotten obnoxious with their reactions. Seriously,
I do NOT go to other peoples’ pages and leave catty, disturbing remarks, and I
expect the same behavior. Unfortunately, that does not happen and I don’t have the
time or patience to babysit my page.
So given the combination of
issues here with Facebook wanting to mimic MySpace’s bloated insanity, and
dealing with some of the reactions I’ve gotten, I’ve decided on the following:
On Facebook, I will ONLY
post announcements about my blogs, release dates, etc., and the occasional cat
picture. You don’t want to see my politics? Join my Facebook page. If you ask
questions there, if my mods can answer, they will. I won’t be taking personal
questions there and I have turned off the private message function.
On Twitter, I’m pretty much
me, all the way. I will be the same as I’ve always been there—I do talk about
politics, there, I do swear and get kind of wacky with other authors I know.
So, if you don’t want to see any of my personal views, maybe don’t follow me
there.
On my blogs—well, I will
write about whatever I want to write about, just like on Twitter.
On my discussion group,
which has just started, I will occasionally pop in. My mods Jenn and Phil are
there, and the street team members will NEED to sign up for it so we can keep
everybody updated.
If you want to keep up with
release news, please visit my website, my blogs, and/or sign up for my
newsletter. Those are the ONLY three places I will post ALL the release news
where you can find it easily. You will not find ALL the news on Facebook or
Twitter—and there’s no way to keep release news at the top of either of those
social mediums.
I’m also on Good Reads, but
I do NOT go there often, because I do not read reader reviews. I do feel GR is
more of a readers’ site and the main reason I signed up for it, is to keep it
as current as I can. But I don’t friend many people there, and I don’t hang out
there.
Google+ —I have an account
but don’t pay much attention to it.
I still have my MySpace
page but it is NOT kept up to date, I never go there (too many viruses), and
the ONLY reason I keep it is to keep a placeholder on my name.
So there it is. Facebook—announcements
only. Twitter, I hang out and play on. Blogs—you get whatever I feel about
writing. My website—all info is on there. Newsletter—news and important
announcements once a month. Google+ and Good Reads—my toe is there but not much
of the rest of me. MySpace—dead in the
water.
